The Faculty Senate represents the Teaching Faculty of the University. Together with the Administration of the University, the Faculty Senate has responsibility for maintaining the academic standards of the University, improving the experience of working and studying at Northeastern, and making the procedural and academic functioning of the University as effective and harmonious as possible.

The Faculty Senate also serves to coordinate the activities of the various college faculties, as well as activities that involve both the administration and faculty of the University.
